Boston.com reports New Bedford authorities stated the body of the 47-year-old fisherman was found by a fellow crew member at about 7:30 a.m. on January 28, 2011 floating next to a Gloucester-based herring boat.
New Bedford Detective Lt. Jeffrey Silva said the victim tried to return to the boat at about 1 a.m. after a night of socializing. Surveillance video shows the fisherman trying to pull himself onto a platform and board the vessel, when he slipped and fell 20 feet into the harbor.
